Germany’s record-breaking heading goal scorer Miroslav Klose has announced his retirement from worldwide football.

The 36-year-old Lazio striker helped his nation win the World Cup in the late spring, becoming the record scorer in the Football Competition history with 16.

Klose, who totaled 71 goals in 137 internationals, became the 3rd player to score at four World Cup finals.

Klose said, “I’m happy and delighted to have helped this enormous accomplishment for German football”.

Poland-conceived Klose, who scored twice in the competition in Brazil to surpass Brazilian Ronaldo’s rival record of 15 goals, said the time was right to end a 13-year profession with the German national group.

He is the 2nd member of the German Football team to stop after the competition after Chief Philipp Lahm a month ago.

“Winning the title in Brazil was a youth dream work out,” incorporated Klose in a message released by the German Football Association.

Klose made the first of his 137 global appearances in 2001 and broke Gerd Muller’s 40-year-old record of 68 goals in June.

Germany chief Joachim Low said he was glad to have worked with previous Bayern Munich forward Klose.

“When I got together with Miro a week ago he told me he had contemplated it and conversed with his associates,” said Low.

“I quickly sensed that his choice was irreversible and that I can’t persuade him overall.

“You can just rely on Miro to keep his assertion and that was the situation in Brazil also.

“I have an enormous approbation for Miro’s choice and for his amazing national group vocation that is everything except difficult to trump.
